The seeds of messianism can be found in all the big and small revolutions in the past few centuries, revolutions that promise (and some even fulfill) a new future in which all human beings will be equal before the state. Anna Molska in her work Power touches upon the link between the myth of labor, monumentality and ornamentality. Several workers arrive in a muddy field on a gray, gloomy day. They offer their manpower to build a triangular structure which they finally climb and pose on, employing certain understanding of the structured form and recognizing their role in this aesthetic endeavor. The work clearly underlines the clandestine yet strongly embodied narrative of bravery, masculinity and power the characters express. There is a clear relation between the constructivist frame built by the artists, in which her characters apparently are partly directed and partly improvise their performance. The pattern of obedience makes us think of forms and patterns enforcing particular individual and group behaviors, creating communalities and task-oriented communities.
