Clare Butcher (Harare, 1985) is a curator and researcher with the Centre for Curating the Archive at the University of Cape Town, where she’s looking into modern exhibition history in South African. In 2010 she was curator of Your-space platform, Van Abbemuseum, Eindhoven (NL) and is still a facilitator of the Autonomy Project. Clare completed the de Appel Curatorial Training Programme in Amsterdam in 2009 and has curated exhibitions in South Africa, Egypt, Denmark, Sweden and Germany. She writes for a number of art journals, does some lecturing, editing and cooks.
During her time in Holon and in the region around Clare met people, visited projects and looked into a number of archives – preparing the ground for a dramatic project which will be conducted between Cape Town and the Digital Art Lab in 2013.
