Marcel Marcel is comprised of specific manipulations of the same segment of historical film footage documenting Hitler as he addresses a crowd. The time and place of that address is not disclosed in the titling and labeling apparatus and is likely to remain obscure (is it Nuremberg?) to those of us who are not professional historians of the Third Reich. Arad plays with what is among other things idiosyncratically Hitler – his mustache; it bends and winds and grows and shrinks amidst the furor’s serious speech.
