Michael Blum was born in Jerusalem, Israel in 1966, grew up in France, and is an artist and writer currently based in Vienna, Austria. After studying history at University of Paris Panthéon-Sorbonne and photography at Ecole Nationale de la Photographie, Arles, he developed a body of work - videos, publications, installations - that aims at critically re-reading the production of culture and history.
During his residency he made the video "Ciao Ghatoul" in which he abducts a neighbourhood cat and deports it to the West Bank, embarking on a long and complicated journey with the sole purpose of ridding himself of this unpleasant neighbour.
