A film based on a conversation between photographer Miki Kratzman and painter David Reeb. Asked whether a picture is worth a thousand words Reeb replies that a picture never speaks for itself and needs contextualization. Kratzman elaborates and says that a picture is worth at least a thousand words of discussion, describing it, wording it, whether before viewing it or afterwards. So apropos ”Control” Kratzman and Reeb offer the co-existence of two forms of artistic expression, painting and photography. Both strive to capture the gaze towards that which is outside the viewer’s environment, in spite of the realization that gazing at that place is censored and sometimes forbidden. The phrase ”Everything is under control”, within this context, takes on an ominous meaning.
