"Duet" is a video which is a choreographic echo of news footage depicting the movements of Hassam Abdo, a teenage suicide bomber disarmed by Israeli soldiers at a checkpoint near Nablus in 2004. In the original footage orders to remove the bomb and undress are shouted by soldiers off-camera. In the video several performers reproduce the movements of Hassam Abdo including a ’duet’ where the movements are guided by the hands of another performer, a shift from the invisible power exerted from behind the camera’s eye to direct communication through touch.  Andrew Foster is known for an interdisciplinary approach that calls on the collaboration of creators from various disciplines.

Performers: Kartsen Kroll, Cecilia Chen.

Exhibited at Shumen Biennial, Shumen, Bulgaria, summer 2006;Anna Leonowens Gallery, NSCAD, Halifax, June 2006; Espace SD, Beirut, Lebanon, July, 2006
