Satirists Yosi Attia and Itamar Rose failed to explore the true stories of people behind five chosen photos in the Sonnenfeld collection, and decided to have actors reconstruct the old photos. The Leni and Herbert Sonnenfeld collection is not new to the Israeli viewer, and is also familiar to viewers abroad. The images created by the Sonnenfelds shaped the visual collective memory of Israelis, especially during the 1930’s and the 1940’s. Herbert Sonnenfeld worked for Keren Hayesod, Keren Kayemet and the Jewish Agency, and his photos were published in the New York Times, Life Magazine, The Daily News, The Jewish Week, and presented in exhibitions worldwide. "Our Pictures" was made in the framework of the exhibition "We Never Looked Better" curated by Galit Eilat and Eyal Danon at Beth Hatefutsoth.
