The concept of the “cabinet of curiosities” developed in the seventeenth century and described a collection room that people filled with all manner of weird and wonderful objects. It was where all things mysterious and interesting could be encountered. Our cabinet is a wooden box in and above which we design and build our cabinet of curiosities. The technical-design basis of the cabinet of curiosities is automata (wooden toys in which one movement produces a variety of motions). In the workshop the children will assemble personal cabinets of curiosity made from different moving objects that they will design with the aid of a simple computer program, and cut with a laser cutting machine and other means.
