The Sculpture Workshop combines soft materials such as clay and plasticine, with hard materials such as wood, metal, and so forth. Material combination is one of the most fascinating subjects in the world of sculpture, and many artists view it as a genuine challenge. The conceptual basis of the Workshop is “self-portrait”: a subject that remains relevant to this day, and one with which most artists engage; a self-portrait can be virtually anything that characterizes us, from our body to our clothes, from our room to our neighborhood – we can express who we are by means of any the above.

The Workshop

Introduction to the various tools (saw, hammer, screwdriver, filing tools), operating them, and basic safety rules.

A series of rapid self-portraits in soft materials, creating basic shapes (circle, ellipse, square, rectangle, triangle).

Each student will choose a part of the face and sculpt it from the basic shape they prepared so that ultimately there will be a selection of parts.

Using hard materials, each student will build a skeleton / face that will function as a display apparatus into which the sculpted face parts can be incorporated.
