Ensemble Hand Werk is one of the most prominent young ensembles in the world currently, specializing in contemporary music that operate between virtuosic performance on traditional music instrument and manipulation of non-music utensils to produce new sounds. During this project both ensembles will present two concerts at the Teyva in Tel-Aviv-Yafo, interweaving side by side performances of works from their repertoire. The concerts will present Israeli premiers of pieces, on Friday, by N. A. Huber, Globokar, Barden, Asano, Shatil, Tsadka, and Wolman, and on Saturday by Huber, Tidrow, Hagedorn, Quero, Poppe, Niv, Soloveitzik, and Pisaro. The pieces by the members of Musica Nova Ensmble were written during their residency at Avaloch Music Farm (see below).

During the second week of the project members of both ensembles will work together at the Israeli Center for Digital Arts, Holon. On Wednesday (13.9.17) Ma’ayan Tsadka and Tom Soloveitzik will present a concert of solo works, and on Friday and Saturday (15-16.9.17) the players of both ensembles will present a new work, that is neither a sound installation nor a performance piece, by Amnon Wolman. This work – Coach Potatoes employs musical analogies to explore the tension between empathy and a lack of one. Members of the ensemble will use their instruments and other utensils to vibrate the room, creating a continuity of sounds that reminisce power struggles and the differences between a non-violent demonstration and a violent one. The project will be created within a fixed sound installation, in which the performers will fashion a corporative process that will lead to an intimate piece that is open to only a small group of audience in each performance. The whole process, the installation and the work in progress will be open to the public.
