A BPROJECT & MUSLALA joint
"Visit Nomansland" is an event that takes place within the narrow strip of land near Jerusalem's Old City walls. The borders of the strip define the no man's land created between the years 1949 to 1967 in between Jorden and Israel.
As part of the project we invited a group of artists from different disciplines (visual artists, performance art, dance, poetry, photography, etc.) to exhibit a creative process in the area mentioned above. A creative process as opposed to a piece of art, where we see the work after the process is finished. The audience is invited to enjoy the creative process in an area of constant occurrence and action, essential components in the nature of “Nomansland”, whether live or through The B Project website.
Live- You can visit the 751 shelter in Musrara. Located on the western edge of Nomansland, the shelter will function as a control room and the coordination center for all events of the project.
Website – The events will be broadcast in a continuous live 24 / 7 feed, GPS tracking, blog posts and text, photography and edited video from the ground.
Visit Nomansland is an invitation to see a series of actions, ‬ performances, concerts and art works set in public space for seven days and examine the same hidden spaces, undefined and elusive, that make up our daily lives.
"‬No Man's Land" is a legal term or a geographical area between the countries, a memory of place which excludes human existence. Within its borders the man is at constant risk of extinction by the presence of forces which act in and define the area (mines, fences, snipers, conflict and fear).
Beyond this definition, "no man's land" signifies a place that does not exist, its rules void of human discourse – a metaphor of areas of existence that cannot be seen or put into words: areas of the subconscious, religion, dream and art. “Nomansland” gives you the possibility to experience what does not exist, the freedom to be different, to create the ultimate “other” outside the realm of reality. "Nomansland" defines the borders of the known and accepted world as it is expressed in the public space of Jerusalem.
Visit Nomansland is made possible thanks to the generous support of The Jerusalem Foundation, Jerusalem Municipality and “Manofim” project.
