Road to Tate Modern aims at exploring a critical stance towards the Western-orientated contemporary art system. In the work, Don Quixote and his devoted servant Sancho Panza are traveling through a mountain landscape. They ask a man, who is casually passing by, for the road to the Tate Modern. ”Over the mountains” is his reply. A dialogue like this addresses a complex ”situation;” Where exactly – when you look over the Kurdish mountains – is ”the West?” That is the question.
