"I Clean Richard’s House and He Cleans Mine" shares with Solomons’ other videos like "The Right Man" the same voyeuristic impulse and intrusive presence of Solomons within the works. The double screen work shows Richard, Solomons’ regular cleaner, cleaning the artist’s home, on one screen, and the artist himself cleaning Richard’s home, on the other. Solomons gets to avenge the cleaner’s periodic invasion and violation of his family’s intimacy. His revenge, however, is pathetic rather than heroic. This "antiheroic" quality comes up in other works as well. The racial issue is addressed here technically: a polarization effect turns the "black" Richard "white,"and the "white" artist – "black."
