The Video Archive
The Israeli Center for Digital Art in Holon was founded with the aim to promote and distribute media art and video art in Israel. It is the first exhibition space in Israel dedicated to presenting media art, video art, net art and interactive sound.
In keeping with these goals, an archive for video art and digital media has been operating at the Israeli Center for Digital Art, Holon for several years now. The Video Archive contains more than 1,200 titles, including works by Israeli and International artists who have exhibited at the center and works by artists who have contributed works over the years. Following many requests by local Israeli scholars, students, and art lovers we decided to transform the collection into a video archive open to the public.
The archive is intended primarily to represent local contemporary artistic practice. It is distinguished by a concentration of local and regional (Near East) work and by creating work contacts with similar bodies worldwide based on the exchange of information, knowledge, and work collections, enabling the expansion of the archive and the promotion of Israeli artists abroad.
The Video Archive includes video art works, sound works, films, and documentation of performances and installations that were exhibited at the center as well as other works by leading Israeli artists in the field of media art. Thematically, many of the works are linked through questions of identity, ethnicity, and nationalism, as well as other socio-political issues relevant to our region.
The Website
The Video Archive website will be an effective online catalogue of the Archive, rich with texts and video clips. Our goal is to have it up and running by mid 2009.
Open Call
The open call for videos will resume when the new website is online. Please hold onto them until then.
Contact Us
